On Sat. November 7, the Million Woman Movement/Human Rights Division will hold a Press Conference and Rally in front of the U.S. Justice Department, located at 950 Pennsylvania Ave NW, in Washington D.C. to raise awareness to the violations (violence and abuse) of African women, worldwide, officially kick of several major MWM Human Rights campaigns, and to demand that the U.S. government remove the million dollar bounty from the head of Assata Shakur.
Nov. 2, 2009 marked the 30th year of Assata Shakur being liberated from the torture and injustice of a New Jersey prison. This Rally is in recognition of this example of self-determination, resistance, and freedom and to remember Zayd Shakur who was murdered May 2, 1973
The Press Conference will begin at 11:45 a.m. and the Protest Demonstration and Rally will begin at 12:00 noon.
Along with the above mentioned, information and speakers will address the issue of US Political Prisoners with a major emphasis placed on the COINTELPRO operations, the Prison Industrialized Complex, and The case of the Scott Sisters.

Today's " "Hands Off Assata" Free All Political Prisoners-We Charge Genocide Rally is the first of several events and initiatives that will be held nationwide to educate, inform, agitate, and implement progressive and productive solution and resolution oriented actions.
The "Hands Off Assata" Free All Political Prisoners-We Charge Genocide Rally is one of the first major operations for the MW Movement and with begin to establish the role of African women in the struggle for "Power, Prosperity and Peace" for African people throughout the Diaspora.
To show solidarity with other activist and another event taking place in the D.C. area today focusing on social justice issues the "Hands Off Assata" Free All Political Prisoners-We Charge Genocide Rally has scaled down and reformatted its originally planned program for today and will hold it instead in May 2010. Today's event will serve as a kick-off for national/internatio nal MWM campaigns and to assist in additional outreach, MW Movement establishment, and the further coordination of an even more productive event in May (2010)
Highlighting today's event will not only focus on the treatment of Black/African women incarcerated in the US but will also show and begin to provide evidence of the ongoing manipulation, exploitation, and attack on women of African descent and the partnerships in planned Genocidal acts and practices.
The "Hands Off Assata" Free All Political Prisoners-We Charge Geneocide Rally event today is projected to run from 11:45a.m.- 3:00 p.m.
