Eight former Black Community Activists -- Black Panthers and others -- were arrested in 2007 on California charges dating back to 1971. Similar charges against the same men were thrown out in 1973, after it was revealed that police tortured them to confess.
Their arrests and torture were the product of COINTELPRO, an FBI program designed to disrupt, neutralize and destroy radical movements, from the Black Panthers to the Young Lords to Anti-War Activists, by infiltrating organizations, framing people with false criminal charges, and assassinating charismatic leaders.
COINTELPRO is not a thing of the past ... it continues to operate today.

Johannes Mehserle Bail Hearing
Please come and assure that Officer Mehserle stays in custody while awaiting trial for the murder of Oscar Grant III. At Officer Mehserle's arraignment there was very little support from the community, on the other hand there were 25 police officers in the courtroom in support of Officer Mehserle. The battle is far from over, and JUSTICE will NOT be served if the community is not present. Our solidarity imprisoned Mehserle, and our solidarity will see to it that JUSTICE is served. Power to people!

But black people fall for that same argument, and they go around talking about law breakers. We did not make the laws in this country. We are neither morally nor legally confined to those laws. Those laws that keep them up, keep us down.

At 11:30am on January 13, 2009, Black Militant said… This seems to be the only time Black folks come together, when one of us are murdered by a white cop. Brotha's murder each other all the time in Oakland and no one says a word. As soon as the white does something "it's on". Sad but true Blackman.
It's too bad that's the vibe out there.
We here deal with it all, in fact tomorrow I will be attending a summit "less bullets and more books" which is in response to a wave of shooting in Brooklyn.
Since you have experience, you should organize Folks where you are,
I'm sure they will respect your history.

Everybody in the black community must organize, and then we decide whether we will have alliance with other people or not, but not until we are organized.
